Our Program
Y.O.U.’s program is based on our holistic positive development philosophy. This program nurtures individual youth and also supports them in their family context when needed. It is comprised of three core areas and ten different services.
Academic Enrichment
Academic assistance: One-on-one and small-group assistance with homework and academic skills
Social Development
Interpersonal skills: Treating conflict and social awkwardness as learning opportunities for youth rather than barriers to their growth.
Parental support: Parenting classes and regular family potluck dinner nights
Life skills education: Small education groups to discuss substance abuse, gangs, nutrition, sexuality, family dynamics, anger management, and other key concerns for youth
Cultural and artistic activities: Regular cooking, craft projects, art, dance, and other cultural activities, field trips to museums, and other extra-curricular learning opportunities
Recreational and athletic activities: Developing physical and mental fitness with outdoor and indoor sports, board games, and camping trips
Emotional Support
Crisis intervention: Available 24 hours a day to stabilize family crisis situations such as runaway and locked-out youth
Case management: Help for families with navigating other agencies and governmental bodies that can provide additional support
Individual, group, and family counseling: Specialized counseling services for youth and families in need
Mentoring: One-on-one and small-group mentoring by adult and older youth role models
