Our Programs

Y.O.U. closes the opportunity gap by preparing youth for post-secondary and life success.

We partner with families, schools, and the community to provide academic, social, and emotional supports to 1,600 youth and their families each year, ensuring every young person has the opportunity to succeed. All of Y.O.U.'s services are relationship-based and free for youth and families.

Our program model has three parts: out-of-school time programs, mental health counseling, and parent leadership and enagement.

1. Out-of-School TIme Learning: We provide daily afterschool and summer learnin programs at eleven high-need school across Evanston and Skokie. Youth receive individualized academic assistance, participate in experiential learning programs, learn life skills, and enjoy high-quality recreational, social, and emotional enrichment activities.

2. Mental Health Counseling and Outreach: We deliver thousands of hours of mental health counseling each year to youth in our programs through group theapry sessions, case management, crisis intervention, and individual and family counseling.

3. Parental Leadership and Engagement: We support parents and caregivers in creating safe, healthy, and nurturing homes by engaging them in monthly family nights, leadership development opportunities, and peer learning exchanges.

Across this program model, we uphold four core charactersitics to support youth and family success:

  • Accessible: We off our services for free at school-based sites that are familiar and convenient to families in order to remove all cost, stigma, and transportation barriers.
  • Holistic: Our model of integrating learning, counseling, and wraparound supports ensures that youth are successful academically, socially, and emotionally.
  • Trauma-informed: All of our services incorporate clinical practices in order to support youth's social and emotional well-being and healthy development.
  • Collaborative: We partner with schools, families, and more than 50 community-based agencies to provide youth with opportunities from across all their environemnts: in school, at home, and in the community.
